Career Transitions (CT) is a Computer and Business training school located in Sonoma County. The school began 20 years ago , on Santa Rosa Avenue, with five students and one instructor.
Focused training, on basic computer skills as well as business classes, prepare students for positions such as an Account Clerk, Administrative Assistant, Sales and Customer Relations.
The school grew quickly, necessitating a move to the Santa Rosa Corporate Center by early 1989. Now CT could accommodate 20 students, while maintaining a small class environment with 5 students to one instructor. As technology advanced, during the 1990's, CT stayed a step ahead of the curve by adding technical programs which prepared students to be IT professionals. Along with those changes came Multimedia Web Design, and an AutoCAD training curriculum
During 2000, CT participated in a Federal grant program for people with disabilities. This enabled hundreds of students to learn valuable skills necessary to be competitive in today’s job market. Although CT is a Private Postsecondary School, and is open to the private sector, the school has mainly catered to the Rehabilitation community, including Workers' Compensation and State Department of Rehabilitation.
The vocational rehabilitation climate has changed dramatically over the years. Since
2004, Workers Compensation has replaced Vocational Rehabilitation Services with a
Training Voucher used for vocational training only, leaving many injured workers
without means of support while going to school. This affected the number of students
who attend Career Transitions (CT). We are staying ahead of the curve by branching
into new directions including new training programs. Saturday courses are available,
